Excursion to Tierra del Fuego National Park
The National Park is Argentina’s southernmost protected area.
It is the only one that features both coastline and mountains. It is accessed via
National Route No. 3, about 11 km southwest of Ushuaia. On this tour, we’ll visit the Pipo River, Mount Susana, Lake Acigami, the Alacush Visitor Center, Laguna Verde, and Lapataia Bay, where the Pan-American Highway ends. We’ll stop along the way to take photos and go on a hike, weather permitting.
The park’s topography is extremely varied, featuring a succession of rugged mountains, rivers, valleys, and lakes all the way to the coast of the Beagle Channel.
The sub-Antarctic forest can be admired year-round. The most common mammal is the Fuegian red fox. The variety of marine and mountainous environments supports a wide range of bird species, from the cachaña, the giant woodpecker, the rayadito, and the Patagonian thrush, to the cauquén caranca, the symbol of the National Park.
