Excursion to Perito Moreno Glacier: We depart in the morning from the city of El Calafate, and after an 80-km drive, we arrive at the viewing platforms facing Perito Moreno Glacier. The platforms feature balconies at different levels and are connected by trails and stairs, which you can explore in their entirety during the excursion to admire this beautiful glacier from various vantage points.
Optional Boat Tour
The Perito Moreno Glacier excursion can be complemented with a 1-hour boat tour along the Brazo Rico arm of Lake Argentino, during which the boat approaches within about 370 meters of the glacier’s south face. This allows you to observe the calving zone—the site where a natural phenomenon occurs that generates great excitement.
- Walk along the viewing platforms in front of the glacier
- Optional: mini ice hike

A full-day excursion offering a relaxed and physically undemanding way to explore El Chaltén. The guide accompanies the group at all times.
Tour Description: The excursion begins at 7 a.m. and ends around 10 a.m.
On our route, we’ll cross the Santa Cruz River and stop for a few minutes at Estancia La Leona, next to the river of the same name. There, we’ll take a restroom break, and you’ll be able to enjoy homemade cakes and a hot drink (not included).
Halfway through the journey, you’ll be able to see the Southern Andes, where the unmistakable silhouette of Mount Fitz Roy stands out above the surrounding granite peaks.
We’ll begin our guided hike to the Mirador de los Cóndores; it’s an uphill hike that takes us to the viewpoint in just over an hour.
After this hike, we’ll head to the restaurant to enjoy lunch.
In the afternoon, we’ll continue on to the Rio de las Vueltas Valley for a guided hike to Salto del Chorrilo, a crystal-clear waterfall nestled in the forest.
Toward the end of the excursion, you’ll have free time to explore the town and enjoy the craft brewery, tea house, or waffle shop—all classics in El Chaltén.
Then we’ll begin our return to El Calafate.
