Tour Description: The excursion begins at 7 a.m. and ends around 10 a.m.

On our route, we’ll cross the Santa Cruz River and stop for a few minutes at Estancia La Leona, next to the river of the same name. There, we’ll take a restroom break, and you’ll be able to enjoy homemade cakes and a hot drink (not included).

Halfway through the journey, you’ll be able to see the Southern Andes, where the unmistakable silhouette of Mount Fitz Roy stands out above the surrounding granite peaks.

After this hike, we’ll head to the restaurant to enjoy lunch.

In the afternoon, we’ll continue on to the Rio de las Vueltas Valley for a guided hike to Salto del Chorrilo, a crystal-clear waterfall nestled in the forest.

And to fully enjoy this moment, you’ll disembark at the exclusive Spegazzini Base, right in front of the glacier, to enjoy the lodge, which offers all the amenities you need.
The trail is accessible and not difficult, as it follows firm ground. Once at the lodge, visitors can enjoy the cuisine, the gift shop, and an incredible panoramic view from both the dining rooms and the outdoor areas.

Viedma Navigation

A cruise through Argentina’s largest glacier. We set sail from Bahía Túnel, located just 18 km from El Chaltén and 220 km from El Calafate, for a cruise, hike, and a face-to-face encounter with the vastness of nature.

We depart from Bahía Túnel Harbor, 18 km from the town of El Chaltén. Once on board, we set sail southward through the bay; this allows us to sail close to the shore so we can see the impressive Huemul Massif.

The boat ride takes approximately 40 minutes to reach Cabo de Hornos Bay. There, you’ll disembark for an easy hike to the overlook on the Cabo de Hornos Peninsula, where you’ll take in the coastline of Bahía de los Témpanos. Afterward, you’ll reboard the boat to get a closer look at the face of the Viedma Glacier before finally returning to the port.

Includes

  • Boat trip to the Viedma Glacier
  • Hike to Bahía de los Témpanos
  • Snack on board
  • Transportation from Chaltén

Not Included: Park entrance fee

Torres del Paine

Discover Torres del Paine National Park (Chile)—considered one of the eighth wonders of the world—on a full-day excursion. Located in the heart of Southern Patagonia, 300 km south of El Calafate, it is regarded as one of the most beautiful parks in the world due to its unique and striking landscape of mountains, glaciers, lakes, waterfalls, flora, and fauna.

Traveling across the Patagonian steppe from north to south, we’ll reach the Cancha Carrera border crossing (approximately 2.30 hrs).

Aboard 4×4 vehicles, we’ll visit strategic points from which we’ll set out on hikes to reach the panoramic viewpoints of the park’s most important natural attractions

Leaving the Cerro Castillo border crossing, we’ll take the road toward Laguna Amarga, a scenic viewpoint of Las Torres del Paine. We’ll continue by vehicle, making stops at various viewpoints such as Laguna de los Cisnes and the Upper Nordenskjold Viewpoint, until we reach Puerto Pudeto, the starting point for the hike to Salto Grande. Weather permitting, we’ll hike along the shore of Lake Pehoe to the lower viewpoint of Los Cuernos del Paine.
The hike is of low technical difficulty.

After this hike, we’ll continue by vehicle to a new viewpoint, this time near Lake Pehoe, with the Cuernos del Paine and the Francés Valley in the background, framed by Lakes Pehoe and Nordenskjold; from there, you’ll also be able to see Mount Paine Grande and Mount Almirante Nieto.

From this point, we’ll begin the return trip to El Calafate, arriving at the hotels around 10:00 p.m.

The tour includes: Transportation from your hotel, guided tour, snack, tour insurance, tour guide

Not included: Park entrance fee

Vespignani Glacier Hike - Mount Fitz Roy 🇦🇷

Pickup from Chaltén. The route continues along the shores of Lake Viedma, with the Andes Mountains in the background.

After a total of 3 hours on the road, we’ll arrive at the mountain village of El Chaltén.

Here we’ll make a brief stop and possibly transfer vehicles in the town center before continuing along Route 23 to head deeper into the mountain range toward the southern tip of Lago del Desierto, located 37 km away (a 1.15-hour drive on a gravel and rocky road).

There, we’ll board a boat bound for the Vespignani Reserve. During the 20-minute boat ride, you’ll be able to admire the Huemul and Vespignani Glaciers and the north face of Mount Fitz Roy.

Once in the reserve, you’ll be greeted by a local guide who will provide information about the three self-guided trails of varying difficulty levels (easy, moderate, and difficult). From the latter two trails, you can get a close-up view of the Vespignani Glacier—the largest and most impressive on Lago del Desierto—and once again enjoy an incredible view of the north face of Mount Fitz Roy.

Toward the end of the afternoon, at the agreed-upon time, passengers must return to the meeting point to board the boat back to Punta Sur and then transfer to El Calafate.

After a farewell hot chocolate, we’ll board the boat back to Punta Sur Pier. At the scheduled time, the bus will take us to El Chaltén, where our adventure ends.
